About Matrimilan
Matrimilan started as a personal frustration. Our friends were getting married — or trying to — and the tools available to them were uniformly bad.
So a small team of engineers and operators in Bengaluru built a third option. Selective. Verified. Family-aware. Quiet by design.
What follows is what we built, why we built it, and how we work.
✦ Why we built this
What people actually wanted was something neither category was building.
The first option — swipe apps — got our friends nowhere. Anonymous, gamified, addictive in the short run, and demoralising in the long run. No family in the loop. Nobody actually checking who anyone was. Optimised for sessions per day, not for finding a partner.
The second option — legacy matrimony portals — were padded with fakes, felt like a job, and were optimised for profile count, not signal. The serious users we knew abandoned them within weeks.
We wanted a third thing. The agency to choose your own partner — yours, not your aunt’s. The seriousness of family involvement, on your timeline. And a verification process strict enough that the people you meet are, without exception, real.
Less than 1 in 4 applicants is accepted. Every profile is screened by AI and reviewed by a human. That is the product.

Not slogans. Operating constraints. They’re the rules we use internally when something has to give.
Every profile is screened by our AI for ID consistency, stolen photos, and fabricated detail — then reviewed by a real person on our ops team. Two checkpoints, no shortcuts.
Not on what scrolls well. The model weighs values, family expectations, and life stage above looks and bios. Five hand-curated matches a week.
Five matches a week, not five hundred. No streaks, no badges, no nudges. We don't have an engagement team because we don't optimise for engagement.
Granular per-section, per-photo, per-match controls. Family is included on your terms — looped in when you decide, not by default.
We don't sell ads. We don't sell data. We don't run paid promotions inside the product. The only number that matters to us is marriages solemnized.
The product is built to be left, not joined. When it's working, you stop using us — and you tell your friends. That's the whole strategy.
We will refund a paid year, in full, if Matrimilan didn't work for you. The risk is on us — that's the only honest way to charge for this.

Founder
Engineer by training, IIT alumnus, and the founder of MatriGlam — the matrimonial photography service used by thousands of candidates across India. Built Matrimilan from the lessons that business taught him about how seriously Indians take this choice and how poorly the existing options served them.

✦ Origin story
I watched my friends spend two years on apps and matrimony portals. Some met their partners eventually. Most didn’t. The pattern was the same — opening hopeful, closing tired, uninstalling, telling their parents they would “think about it”.
I had spent the previous few years running MatriGlam, the matrimonial photography service. I sat with thousands of candidates and their families during shoots. People are extraordinarily serious about getting this right. The product they were being given was not.
The honest answer to “why doesn’t a better one exist?” was that the existing platforms had no incentive to change. They earn from volume — fake profiles, paid boosts, unverified accounts — and any selectivity would shrink their top of funnel. So we made selectivity the entire product.
Matrimilan accepts less than 1 in 4 applicants. Every profile is screened by AI and then reviewed by a real person on our team. Family is in the loop, on your terms. We are free at launch and will refund a paid year if it isn’t working.
Most of what we do is invisible. The careful work — the verification, the curation, the privacy — happens before you see it. When it works, you stop using us, and you tell your friends. That is the whole company.
