✦ A note from the founder
I started Matrimilan after building MatriGlam — the matrimonial photography service used by thousands of candidates across India. Watching that work taught me how serious people are about getting this right, and how poorly the existing options served them.
The two options my friends were using both felt wrong, in different ways. Swiping apps were too anonymous and too gamified. The legacy matrimony sites were padded with fake profiles and felt like a job. Neither was built for people who actually wanted to get married.
So our team — engineers from IIT and designers from India’s top institutions — built a third thing: the agency of choosing your own partner, with the seriousness of family involvement, and a verification process strict enough that you only ever meet real people. Less than one in four applicants is accepted. Every profile is screened by our AI and reviewed by a human.
Most of what we do is invisible. The careful work — the verification, the curation, the privacy — happens before you see it. When it works, you stop using us, and you tell your friends.
